Communication. Connection. Care.
These qualities are woven into everything I do. My purpose and promise to you.
Communication, connection, and care are how you know I'm with you every step of the way.
When I'm sending an email or answering a text. I'm with you. When we are planning outfits or picking a location. I'm with you. When I coaching you into the perfect pose or lighting. I'm with you. When I'm praising and cheering, chasing and wrangling, and telling jokes and acting like a total goofball to make the littles smile. I'm with you. When I'm editing and delivering a stunning gallery. I'm with you.
Below you will see and read of how communication, connection, and care translate into a better experience and final images every time.
Style Matters.
Style is made up of choices- lighting, posing, & editing. And its ultimately how a photographer's personality, preferences, & training shine through in their work.
Lighting: I am a natural light photographer. This means a few things- 1) I usually shoot outdoors, 2) I shoot during golden hour- a window of time in the morning & late afternoon when the sun's light is both even & soft, and 3) I carefully and selectively find & scout each location I shoot at. I offer two different kinds of locations- urban & rural settings. Urban settings include anything manmade- parking garages, alleys, city streets, etc. Rural settings include- parks, fields, riverbeds, etc.
Posing: It manifests in two kinds- posed or candid. I shoot about 50/50. I achieve this balance by setting up each shot. I find the perfect light and then guide you into a basic pose. This is when I will call everyone's attention to me for a "look here & smile" shot. I will then prompt you in some way- by asking you questions or give you small tasks to do. This creates & inspires "the moments"- the moments where real smiles and true & authentic connection come to life.
Editing: The culmination of it all. The icing on the cake really! The photographs I take are clean & bright which really is a reflection of the choices I made at the session- not on my computer.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
I have been taking pictures for the better part
of my life but it wasn't until March 2016, 2
years after the birth of my daughter, that I decided to get serious about this passion of mine.
See- I believe cameras were invented for an amazing purpose. And... that purpose is to preserve the moments in our lives that cannot be described with words.
For instance- have you ever looked at your child and thought, "I hope I never forget how tight she hugs me." or "How cute she is at this age." or "How her nose scrunches up when she laughs"?
I guess the point is that we ALL have these moments, these times in our lives, when we want to retain more than just a memory. Something more tangible. And- something that won't fade.
Cue Yvette! I can make this possible. I can be there to capture and preserve these moments so that you don't have you rack your brain trying to remember. Instead you can see them, which in many ways, will allow you to live those moments all over again.
I am a wife. I am a mommy. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a friend. I am all of these things too which is why I am such a great photographer. It is my own desire to "never forget" that drives my work.
If you choose me, I will do my best to make your moments count.
